Happiness in Friendship

We shared with you the challenges of raising the runt of the pig litter yesterday. Our fear was that Piggie would imprint upon Michaela as her mama and forget that she was in fact a pig. We moved Wilbur into her stall at the barn last night. This morning they seemed to be doing really well together. Michaela moved them outside to get some sun. They had some run around time in the grass and then were moved to a large dog kennel. The kennel allowed them to enjoy the sunshine while still being protected from running off or being attacked by one of our dogs or cats.

Wilbur is lighter in color while Piggie has a redness to her fur similar to her mother.

This transition has proved to be a success. Unfortunately, Piggie is showing her true colors in bossing Wilbur around and establishing her dominance. I wonder how much longer it will be before he begs to go back home with the rest of the litter. Our hope is that they will both transition back into the pigpen with the other pigs as they continue to grow and develop.
